Instructions
- 1. Marinate the Beef
- Place the sliced beef in a bowl and add soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and minced garlic. Mix thoroughly so the beef is evenly coated. Leave it to marinate for around 10 minutes while preparing the vegetables and dressing.
- 2. Prepare the Dressing
- Combine lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and chilli in a small bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the ingredients are well combined. Taste and adjust the balance of lime, sweetness, saltiness, or chilli according to preference.
- 3. Cook the Beef
- Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook quickly in batches if necessary. Sear until browned on the outside and cooked to your preferred level. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as this can cause the beef to steam rather than sear.
- 4. Assemble the Salad
- Place the mixed salad leaves, cucumber, capsicum, tomatoes, red onion, coriander, mint, and chilli in a large serving bowl. Add the warm beef and gently toss the ingredients together. Pour over the Thai dressing and mix carefully until everything is lightly coated.
- 5. Serve
- Serve the Thai beef salad immediately while the beef is still warm. Garnish with additional coriander, mint, or sliced chilli if desired. For extra texture, you can add roasted peanuts or crispy fried onions before serving.
