Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chunks
Optional Ingredients
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/4 teaspoon espresso powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a small oven-safe skillet or baking dish.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter with half of the chocolate chips until smooth, then remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Stir in the brown sugar and white sugar until glossy and well combined.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract and whisk until thick and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, and optional espresso powder.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture just until combined, then stir in the remaining chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, and optional walnuts.
- Spread the thick dough evenly into the skillet, keeping the center slightly thicker than the edges.
- Bake for about 15 minutes, until the edges are set but the center still looks soft and slightly underbaked.
- Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes before serving so the middle stays warm and gooey.
- Serve straight from the skillet while the center is still molten and fudgy.
