Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp matcha powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

  • Honey or maple butter (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk and whisk in matcha until fully dissolved.
  2. Add flour, sugar, yeast, and salt to a bowl.
  3. Add eggs and the matcha milk. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead in the softened butter until smooth and elastic (8–10 minutes).
  5. Cover and let rise 1–1.5 hours.
  6. Punch down, divide into 12 rolls.
  7. Place in a greased baking dish and rise another 45 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20–22 minutes until lightly golden on top.
  9. Brush with honey butter while warm.
